The swearing-in of the 76-year-old Lingayat strongman marked the culmination of a 21-day political turmoil in Karnataka which saw the collapse of the Congress-JD (S) government earlier this week.

Not wasting any time, the seven-time MLA from Shikaripura said he would prove his majority in the assembly on Monday.

As things stand, BJP enjoys a majority in the House, with the support of 105 party MLAs and one independent.
