The Xiaomi Mi 5c will be announced before the end of this month, well, at least if the latest rumor is to be believed. This information comes from a China-based research analyst, Kevin Wang, and he not only said that the phone will launch by the end of February, but also re-iterated that it will be fueled by Xiaomi’s very own processor, the so-called Pinecone processor. This is, allegedly, an octa-core chip, and is based on the Cortex-A53 cores and comes in a 4 x 4 arrangement. We’re looking at a mid-range processor here it seems, though that’s all the info we have about this SoC at the moment.

Xiaomi is, allegedly, planning to release yet another Pinecone processor sometime this year, a more powerful chip which is based on the Cortex-A73 cores, and also sports a 4 x 4 architecture. The Xiaomi Mi 5c has been leaking for a long time now, we’ve been seeing info about this phone for months. Some new info about this phone popped up yesterday, as the device was certified by China’s 3C authority quite recently. In any case, this smartphone will be a direct successor to the Xiaomi Mi 4c which was announced way back in September 2015. The Xiaomi Mi 5c will look similar to the Xiaomi Mi 5, at least if leaks are to be believed, but unlike the Mi 5, it will not sport glass / ceramic on its back, but metal instead. Its bezels will be quite thin, and the physical home key will be placed below the display of this smartphone. Needless to say, the Xiaomi Mi 5c will be a mid-range offering by Xiaomi.

If the leaks are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 5c will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) 2.5D curved display, along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. A 12-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back of this smartphone, and an 8-megapixel shooter will be available on its front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow (maybe even Android 7.0 Nougat) will come pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi 5c, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 OS, of course. This smartphone will probably land in China first, though nothing has been confirmed just yet.
