India vice-captain and opener Smriti Mandhana scripted history on Monday, February 13 as she became the first-ever player to be sold in the auction of the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL). Smriti was paid a sum of Rs 3.4 crore, the highest among the marquee set of players at the auction in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was sold for Rs 1.8 crore to Mumbai Indians after an intense bidding war from Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
