India reported 2,183 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Monday. This is nearly twice the figure that was reported on Sunday, when 1,150 new infections were registered in 24 hours.
On Monday, India also recorded 214 deaths in 24 hours. Even though the number includes a backlog of 62 deaths from Kerala, this marks a sharp increase from the four Covid deaths that were reported in the country on Sunday. With 1,985 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate at present is 98.76 per cent. There are 11,542 active cases in the country at present.
