Protesting farmers' unions have alleged that some "anti-social" elements infiltrated their "peaceful" protest on Republic Day. In a press release, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, a conglomerate of farmers' unions, said it condemns and regrets the violence that took place in the national capital during the farmers' protest on Tuesday.Terming the violence as "unacceptable", the statement said, "We condemn and regret the undesirable and unacceptable events that have taken place today and dissociate ourselves from those indulging in such acts." The Samyukta Kisan Morcha also thanked farmers for their "unprecedented participation in today's Farmers Republic Day Parade".Its statement said that despite all efforts, "some organisations and individuals have violated the route (for tractor rally) and indulged in condemnable acts".
