In order to evaluate the severity of the incidents of human-wildlife conflict in the state (which are regularly reported but of which the forest department does not keep all the record) and to ensure better tracking of compensation to victims, the Uttarakhand forest department is now putting in place a system  Uttarakhand Research Circle (URC), a division of the forest department, headed by high-profile Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi, will undertake the exercise.
