The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday cancelled the Kanwar Yatra, a day after the Supreme Court asked the state government to reconsider allowing the annual pilgrimage amid COVID-19. The apex court had said that the state "cannot go ahead with it 100%", adding that it would pass an order if the state didn't. Uttarakhand had earlier also cancelled the Yatra.
