In yet another horrific case of atrocity emerging from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, three minor Dalit girls were found lying unconscious in a field on Wednesday night after they went out to gather fodder. Two of the girls later died at a hospital while the third is struggling for life even as the family claims they were poisoned.

SP Unnao Anand Kulkarni has said, “Two girls died at the hospital and one has been referred to the district hospital. As per initial information, the girls had gone to cut grass. The doctor states that there are symptoms of poisoning. An investigation is on.” The officer further added that six police teams have been formed for the investigation and prima facie it looks like a case of poisoning as a “lot of froth was found at the spot”.
