Former Coal Secretary H C Gupta, two deputies, K S Kropha and K C Samaria were convicted by CBI special judge Bharat Parashar on May 19. The three were awarded the sentence under the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy and cheating under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for providing uncalled-for advantage to M/s Kamal Sponge Steel and Power.
