Two IAF pilots died after their aircraft crashed at a sandbar on Majuli island minutes after taking off from Jorhat airbase at Rowriah on Thursday. “Wing Commanders J Paul James and D Vats, pilots of the microlight aircraft, attempted an emergency landing. But the aircraft crashed at a sandbar and went up in flames,” Tezpur-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Harshvardhan Pande said.
