The Crimean–Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) claimed one more life in Saurashtra as authorities confirmed that a 55-year-old woman who died in Bhavnagar on August 22 tested positive for the dreaded viral infection. This season, this is the third Congo fever death reported in the state.
Authorities identified the woman as Amu Hadgarda of Kamlej village. She was admitted to Sir T Hospital on August 21 with high fever and died the next day. The report on Wednesday confirmed CCHF.

(75), both residents of Jamdi village in Surendranagar’s Limbdi taluka, had succumbed to CCHF on August 20. Deputy CM and state health minister Nitin Patel confirmed that the three deaths in the state were due to CCHF virus.
“A total 17 people including two from Halvad in Morbi district have tested positive for the virus while 11 samples tested negative. The health administration is taking all measures to control further spread of the disease,” Patel said.
