Amidst the huge row over an advertisement showing an interfaith baby shower, a report on Wednesday had claimed that the store of jewellery brand Tanishq was attacked by a mob in Gandhidham town of Gujarat's Kutch district on Monday night. However, the piece of news is now being said to be false. According to Kutch (East) Superintendent of Police Mayur Patil, two people had visited Tanishq store in Gandhidham on October 12 and sought a written apology from the owner in Gujarati. "The shop owner had fulfilled the demand but he was getting threat calls from Kutch. The news about the store being attacked are false," clarified Patil.

Rahul Manuja, the manager of Tanishq store in Gandhidham, also dismissed reports of an attack. "The store has not been attacked. However, I received some threat calls. The police have supported us," said Manuja. Notably, Tanishq is already facing a backlash by a section of social media users for the advertisement, which shows a Muslim family organising a baby shower for their Hindu daughter-in-law.
