In the aftermath of the suicide of a 17-year-old Dalit girl who fought against the National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET), massive protests have erupted in Chennai and some other parts of Tamil Nadu. Several political parties and student bodies have come out on the street demanding scrapping of NEET. On Saturday, Naam Tamilar Katchi held a protest demanding the scrapping of NEET. Several students in Trichy also began an indefinite strike demanding the withdrawal of the entrance exam. Other pro-Tamil outfits staged state-wide protests.
