Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's writer, Abhishek Makwana committed suicide on November 27. The Charkop police had registered an accidental death record after the writer was found hanging in his flat in a Kandivali building. Abhishek Makwana had mentioned financial troubles in suicide note, say police. The family members of the deceased alleged that he was a victim of cyber fraud and blackmail. His family also revealed that they had been getting calls from the fraudsters after his death, demanding that they pay back the money as he had allegedly made them guarantors in a loan. Abhishek's brother Jenis revealed that Abhishek’s email records revealed the financial fraud.
