The Supreme Court on Monday extended interim protection from arrest for Congress leader Pawan Khera, who was taken into custody by Assam Police last week amid drama at the Delhi airport. The top court extended protection after the Assam and Uttar Pradesh governments sought extra time to file affidavits in response to the Congress challenging Khera's arrest over allegedly derogatory remarks against prime minister Narendra Modi. The court said Khera would be protected from arrest hold till its next hearing, which is expected to be on Friday.
