The headline indices were steadily holding their opening losses as hawkish stance by the US Federal Reserve continued to weigh on markets globally. The BSE Sensex was 1,107 points lower at 56, 750 and the NSE Nifty was down 320 points at 16,957. The two indices had shed 1.9 per cent each.
