The Supreme Court on Monday set aside the Calcutta High Court order imposing a total ban on the sale, purchase and use of all firecrackers during upcoming festivals of Kali Puja, Diwali, New Year's, Christmas, etc in West Bengal. It asked the state government to look at ensuring that banned firecrackers and related items aren't imported in Bengal.
