The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL seeking annulment of Rahul Gandhi’s candidature from Amethi and Wayanad constituencies by alleging that certain documents had shown that the Congress president had claimed to be a UK citizen.
Petitioners Jai Bhagwan Goyal and Chander Prakash Tyagi, through advocate Barun Sinha, alleged that since Rahul has “declared himself to be a British national”, he was not entitled to Indian citizenship and barred from contesting elections or holding the post of president of a registered political party.
