Facing threat of losing his job after being convicted in Bilkis Bano case in Gujarat riots, senior Gujarat IPS officer R S Bhagora rushed to the Supreme Court which on Thursday refused to stay his conviction, making his position as ACP of Vadodra untenable. Bhagora was one of the five cops whose acquittal by trial court was set aside by Bombay High Court which convicted them, along with two doctors, on charges of destroying evidence and attempting to shield the accused.
