Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, who is currently serving in Bengaluru's Parappanna Agrahara Jail for corruption charges has been granted 15-day emergency parole by prison officials for attending the last rites of husband M. Natarajan, who breathed his last in the early hours of Tuesday. Natarajan passed away at a private hospital in Chennai after multiple organ failures at 1:30 am. At the age of 74, he was suffering from prolonged illness and was admitted to Gleneagles Global Health City hospital last week for a chest infection. Doctors have earlier described his condition as "critical". Hospital's CEO Shanmuga Priyan in an official statement said, "It is with profound grief and sorrow that we announce the sad demise of Natarajan Maruthappa at 1:30 am. Every possible attempt was made to sustain his revival. However, despite our best efforts, he was unable to recover."
