Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who is currently a Supreme Court judge, will take charge as Chief Justice of India (CJI) on November 11 this year. Justice Khanna will succeed CJI DY Chandrachud, who is serving as the country's 50th chief justice.
The development comes days after CJI Chandrachud recommended the name of the Supreme Court's most senior judge, Justice Khanna, as his successor.
