A report on the performance of the central and state information commissions based on data from January 2018 to March 2019 shows that in 26 information commissions, the number of pending RTI appeals and complaints stood at a high of 2,18,347. In the central information commission alone, the estimated waiting time on appeals nearly doubled between November 1, 2017 and April 1, 2019 .
