As the results of the Gujarat Assembly polls unfolded, the Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Jagdish Thakor, at state headquarters in Ahmedabad, said that the “results were shocking”.
“The decision of Gujarat’s people to bring back a BJP government is shocking. However, the results show that there has been no shortcoming on our side,” Thakor added.
Adding that in the end, in democracy, it is the peoples' vote that counts, Thakor said: “The Congress fought hard. But even then, we failed to form a government.” When asked as to what had caused the drastically low vote share on Congress’s part, Thakor said, “These would be discussed. There are not one or two reasons for a loss or victory in elections. Also, it is not the case that there is love for the BJP.”
