With a record single-day increase of over 28,000 coronavirus cases, India's Covid caseload has come close to crossing the 8.5 lakh mark, just five days after crossing the seven-lakh post, according to the Union Health ministry data. This was the ninth consecutive day that coronavirus cases in India increased by more than 22,000. The total number of positive cases stands at 849,553 which also includes 292,258 active cases. A total of 534,621 people have been cured of the infection. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus began in India, 22,674 people succumbed to the virus, the Ministry of Health said on Sunday.
