In order to keep a check on latecomers, the Centre's department of personnel and training (DoPT) has reportedly asked employees across the country, including senior officers, to be in office latest by 9:15 am and mark their attendance using the biometric system.

"For any reason, if the employee is not able to attend office on a particular day, it should be informed in advance and casual leave should be applied for," the report quoted the circular as saying.

The attendance and punctuality of employees will be monitored regularly.

Usually, central government office run between 9 am to 5:30 pm, however many a times staff members arrive late and leave early thereby creating trouble and inconvenience for people. The new rule aims to address this issue.
