The people’s protest against Sterlite Copper, which was going on peacefully, became violent that led to the killing of 13 persons in police firing as anti-social elements infiltrated into it, actor Rajinikanth has said. Speaking to reporters at a private resort on the outskirts of Thoothukudi after meeting those injured in the police firing at Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital on May 30, Mr. Rajinikanth said the anti-Sterlite protest started by the people became violent on the 100th day as anti-social elements infiltrated into the agitation that led to police firing and consequent killing of 13 persons. The anti-social elements should be crushed with an iron hand like late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa did.
