Congress president Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections from this constituency with his entire family looking on. Rahul Gandhi was joined by mother Sonia Gandhi, sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, her husband Robert Vadra and their children as he filed his nomination from Amethi. This is the fourth time Rahul is fighting general elections from Amethi.

 Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Wayanad in Kerala. He filed his nominations paper from there on April 4. Amethi goes to the poll on May 6 in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections which begin on April 11.
