Jaxay Shah, Chairperson, Quality Council of India (QCI) has been appointed to represent QCI on the board of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) as (Promoter) Director by its Governing Body. Mr. Shah will replace the Former Chairperson, QCI, Sh. Adil Zainulbhai as the representative of QCI. Mr. Shah will join the board with likes. of Dr RS Sharma, CEO, NHA; Sh. Anil Agrawal, Additional Secretary, DPIIT and Sh. Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman, Capacity Building Commission, which is also guided by an Advisory Council chaired by Hon'ble Commerce & Industry Minister Sh. Piyush Goyal and joined by members such as Sh. Nandan Nilekani, Ms. Anjali Bansal and Sh. Arvind Gupta.

As a (Promoter) Director of ONDC, Shah, together with leaders from the industry and government representatives, will work towards actively promoting collaborative partnerships and providing guidance in achieving the organisation's ambition of democratising and decentralising e-commerce in India. Commenting on his appointment, Shah said, "Through this initiative, we envision empowering small merchants, local businesses, and consumers upto the last mile by breaking silos

and promoting access and innovation like never before." A first-of-its-kind open-source interoperable network, ONDC is expected to digitise the entire value chain, standardise operations, promote inclusion of suppliers, derive efficiency in logistics, and enhance value for consumers. QCI has played an instrumental role in the institutionalization of ONDC and, under the leadership of Sh. Shah, will continue to support the organisation in realising its vision.

Presently in the beta testing phase for the general public, ONDC is considered India's UPI moment in e-commerce and is aligned with Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of making the nation Atmanirbhar by strengthening India's MSME sector.
