Punjab on Monday withdrew the general consent accorded to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe cases in the state. The CBI will now require the prior consent of the state government on a case-to-case basis for investigation of any offence in the state. Punjab has joined several states including Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Maharashtra to take the decision.
