Former Army officer and now suspended Punjab DIG (prisons), Captain Lakhminder Singh Jakhar has resigned stating that he wants to stand with farmers protesting against the farm laws and his resignation should be treated as premature retirement. The DIG was suspended in May after a preliminary inquiry on charges of graft for allegedly demanding monthly payments from jails officials. However, he had denied all allegations against him.
