The Bombay HC on Monday commuted the death penalty given to two convicts in the 2007 Pune BPO employee rape and murder case to life imprisonment of 35 years, citing the “inordinate and unreasonable” delay in executing them. A division bench of Justices Bhushan Dharmadhikari and Swapna Joshi said the 35-year prison term would include time they have already served.
