National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams returned to Earth on Tuesday (March 18), hitching a different ride home to close out a saga that began with a bungled test flight more than nine months ago.
The White House posted on X and said, "PROMISE MADE, PROMISE KEPT: President Trump pledged to rescue the astronauts stranded in space for nine months. Today, they safely splashed down in the Gulf of America, thanks to @ElonMusk, @SpaceX, and @NASA!".
