Researchers have found the first evidence of preserved proteins within a 195-million-year-old rib of the 'Lufengosaurus' dinosaur fossil. They believe that 'hematite' particles, which are formed in blood, acted as the catalyst for preserving the protein in vascular canals of the bones. These proteins are more than 100 million years older than anything previously discovered, said the study lead.
