At least two people were killed and several others, including policemen, were injured after violence broke out in Dholpur in Assam's Darrang district due to clashes between police and protestors during an eviction drive. At least 800 families were reportedly evicted on Monday as part of the drive against "illegal encroachment". Police reportedly opened fire after protestors attacked them.
