Jammu & Kashmir will not remain a Union territory for long once the pace of development picks up, and the people of the region will get the opportunity to elect MLAs and a chief minister soon in a fair and transparent manner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday.
Addressing the nation, two days after Parliament voted to scrap J&K’s special status and create two UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the PM said “liberation from Article 370 was a reality” and the entire region was now set to witness the dawn of a new era of development and peace.
