Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the ambitious Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in the heart of Varanasi on Monday.

Here's what the Prime Minister said in his address:

-Kashi has always been class-apart. Even though it has witnessed destruction by someone like Aurangzeb, it also witnessed the valour of leaders like Shivaji & Ahilya Bai Holkar.

-Today, I would also like to express my gratitude to every laborer brother and sister whose sweat has been shed in the construction of this grand complex.

-New history being created; we are fortunate to have witnessed it.

-Kashi Vishwanath Temple premises now spread over five lakh square feet from earlier 3000 sq ft; it can accommodate 50k-75k devotees.

-One will feel proud coming here; this is a confluence of ancient and new.
