Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament was a "watershed moment" that would give a voice to the marginalised in the Muslim community and boost transparency in the management of Waqf properties.
The Waqf Amendment Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha after marathon debates and discussions going beyond 12 hours. It received 128 Ayes in Rajya Sabha and 288 nods in Lok Sabha.
