Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the Gujarat poll campaign on Monday by attacking the Congress with a combination of emotion and vitriol on issues ranging from terrorism, note ban, GST and caste politics while strongly harping on the BJP’s development agenda.
Then, in a sarcastic jibe at opponents, Modi said he is thankful to those indulging in mud-slinging as this will help the lotus bloom yet again in Gujarat. “There’s a lot of mudslinging by people coming from out of Gujarat. But lotus blooms only in mud. A Gujarati knows the state better than the Congress. I know the nerve of Gujarat. Count 151 seats (of BJP) this time,” he said in Bhuj.
