Nearly half of Gujarat will go to polls on Saturday in the first phase of elections which will cover 89 assembly seats across Saurashtra and south Gujarat regions. Elections are being held in two phases in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state, with the second phase for 93 seats in north and central Gujarat slated for December 14. Counting of votes for 182 seats will be taken up on December 18.
