Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) has become the first and only private university in Gujarat to earn the highest grade of ‘A++’ with a CGPA of 3.52/4 following a Peer Team visit by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
Already conferred the status of Centre of Excellence (CoE) by the Government of Gujarat and declared the best private university in the state by Gujarat State Institutional Rating Framework (GSIRF), PDEU is committed to excellence in energy education, research and innovation. As PDEU metamorphoses itself into a Multi-disciplinary Education and Research University (MERU), it aims to emerge as a world class seat of learning and prepare future-ready youth in science & technology, management and liberal arts.
It may be recalled that PDEU had obtained a high grade ‘A’ with an impressive CGPA of 3.39/4 in 2016 for five years.
Under the guidance and leadership of our university President, Dr Mukesh Ambani, and the Chairman of the Standing Committee, Dr Hasmukh Adhia (IAS, retd), we are humbled to receive this recognition from the NAAC,” said the PDEU Director General, Dr S Sundar Manoharan.
“This faith in us by the NAAC helps us to reiterate our commitment to our primary stakeholders – the students and their parents - as well as our Board of Governors and the Government of Gujarat. Our journey would not have been so fruitful without their support and encouragement. I would also like to put on record the untiring efforts and dedication put in by the faculty and staff who rose to the unprecedented challenge the COVID-19 pandemic had posed to us,” Dr Manoharan added.
A sense of jubilation has enveloped the campus and the students and the faculty are understandably happy. They see the rise in the grade from the last assessment cycle as a culmination of the effort they put in during the lockdown and the challenges that partial access to the campus posed to them in 2020-2022.
PDPU was established through a State Act enacted on April 4, 2007. In 2021 it was renamed as Pandit Deendayal Energy University after the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, encouraged it to do so. In its eye for excellence, PDEU has focused its attention on curriculum and research subscribing to Industry 4.0 demands and to train energy ambassadors for the nation in achieving “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. The university offers programmes to address the need for trained human resources in the domains of science, technology, management, humanities and social sciences. Currently, more than 6500 students and research scholars are pursuing academics at the university in their areas of interest which include engineering and cutting edge technologies in renewable energy such as wind, solar, bio-fuel, geothermal energy and green hydrogen. The university has been an active campus in promoting Study in Gujarat Program to bring international flavour on the campus and help its students to become global citizens.
