The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) chased and seized a Pakistani boat carrying huge amount of narcotics, suspected to be heroin and valued at a whopping Rs 800-1,000 crore, off the Gujarat coast in the wee hours of Tuesday, according to top police sources in Kutch. The ICG has taken into custody six Pakistani crew members who were on board, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
“On basis of an input from Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and other intelligence agencies, an ICG ship intercepted and apprehended the Pakistani fishing boat, ‘Al-Madina’ off Jakhau coast in Gujarat. On searching the boat, 194 packets of suspicious substance suspected to be narcotics have been recovered which will be further verified by appropriate agencies though chemical analysis,” said the statement.
