Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted on Thursday that over 97% of India's adult population has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. "Rapidly marching towards achieving 100% first dose mark," he added. Notably, at a press meet today, ICMR's Dr Balram Bhargava said the first dose of vaccine is 98.9% effective in preventing mortality.
