Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived at the Balasore train accident site to assess the current situation. Earlier, he held a meeting to review the situation related to the rail accident. The Indian Railways has initiated a thorough investigation into the collision, led by the commissioner of railway safety from the South Eastern Circle, who operates under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
According to the national railway authorities, the anti-train collision system called "Kavach" was not installed on the route where the tragic collision occurred. The accident involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train, resulting in the loss of nearly 300 lives and leaving over 1000 individuals injured. Although the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, sources have suggested a potential signaling failure.
