Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her US visit on Monday said, "No 'COVID-19 tax' was levied on anybody (in India)." She said, "The one big step the government decided was we shall not tax people to get out of the pandemic." Calling the building of infrastructure "best multiplier for economic recovery", she added, "Capital expenditure was our route to recovery."
