The Interpol has confirmed that jeweller Nirav Modi, accused in the Rs 13,578 crore Punjab National Bank scam, is in the UK following which the CBI has despatched an extradition request to the UK seeking his return to India. The CBI was informed of Modi’s presence in UK and the agency has asked the Interpol office to immediately detain the fugitive based on the red corner notice issued on July 3 so that process for his extradition could be initiated.
