In a major step towards digital convenience and privacy, the Centre launched a new Aadhaar app that allows users to verify and share their Aadhaar details digitally -- eliminating the need to carry physical cards or submit photocopies. The app was officially launched by Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, in the national capital.
The app will use facial recognition technology and QR codes to allow users to authenticate their identity. Currently in its beta testing phase, the app is expected to be rolled out nationwide soon.
