The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced Nobel peace prize winner on Friday. Two winners who have been named today are Yazidi girl Nadia Murad and Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege. While Nadia Murad is one of around 3,000 Yazidi girls and women who were victims of rape and other abuses by the Islamic States, Mukwege has been recognised for his work to treat women and girls affected by rape and sexual violence in his country. Both winners have been chosen from 331 nominees. Of these nominees 216 were individuals and 115 organisations.
