Mumbai residents were advised to stay indoors on Friday unless necessary, following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Despite this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that schools and colleges would remain open.
