A total sum of Rs 1,67,250 crore has been allocated to the home ministry in Union Budget 2020-21, of which nearly 63% will go to police organisations and schemes aimed at enhancing police resources. A major chunk of the home ministry expenditure, amounting to Rs 30,757 crore, has also been earmarked for transfers to the newly-created UT of J&K.
