Several houses and buildings were damaged in Assam as the state suffered strong tremors of magnitude 6.4 on Wednesday morning. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Sonitpur district and was followed by two aftershocks of 4 and 3.1 magnitude respectively.The quake occurred at 7.51 am at a depth of 17 kilometres, according to the National Centre for Seismology.Tremors were felt in the entire northeast region, including neighbouring Meghalaya.
